Move a VM to another location.

Hi Guys

I have to move a VM from one site to another and was wondering what the best way to go about this would be .

Can I simply clone the VM and download the the files from the datastore to a external drive ,take the drive to the new location ,upload to the datastore and open the VM on the new host ?

Not sure what the best way to go about this would be and would much appreciate any advice ?

Hi,

Best way to export VM  in OVF format and then carry it physically to remote site and import it. This will speed up process, since exporting it compress size of VM too and give you original size while you import it back.

Power Off VM------ > Select VM------------->CLick on File at left hand side,-------> Click  Export ----> Click  Export OVF Template----> Give local to store it on your location machine.
