Mount replicated LUN

Using vSphere 4.1 u1 licensed with Enterprise Plus and a HP EVA 84000 FC.
Is it possible to have a datastore for iso's/templates, and replicate it to a secondary site using Continuous Access, with the secondary site having readonly access?
The whole point is to have iso's/templates in 1 main location, so any updates to templates, only has to be done once.
I'm currently using an NFS share, but would prefer it on the SAN. iSCSI isn't an option right now.
A LUN has been created, and replicated, and shows up in the list of devices, but when trying to add it as a datastore at the secondary site, it wants to format it. It doesn't recognise it as a vmfs volume.
esxcfg-volume -l doesn't show any volumes. I was expecting it to show up here as a snapshot. But it shows up under devices in the storage menu.
Any ideas?

During a replication, usually the storage lock the destination LUN.

A solution could be create a snapshot on the destination LUN to use it and test.
