LUN is not available in ESX 4 Server.

Hi Folks,

Storage guys have mapped the LUN to the ESX server. But when i check in ESX server by using esxcfg-volume -l....LIN is not visible.

However, when i check using esxcfg-scsidev -c....I could see the LUN is assigned to my ESX server....

Any thoughts here...from ESX front...How can i make the LUN avaible to my ESX????

Regards

Prabu

Is this an existing lun or it's a new one?

It's a new LUN from SAN.

If new, then you should create datatsore first via client or CLI on one host then rescan on the rest of the hosts.

esxcfg-volume -l normally use for listing a replicate/snapshot datastore and no wonder why you didn't see it.

Do you see the LUN under "Configuration" -> "Storage Adapters"?

In order to use the new LUN as a VMFS datastore you need to format it using the "Add Storage" wizard.
