LUN Sizing recommendation

Hi guys,

Quick question... we regularly create small vSphere setups with an MD3200 SAS attached SAN and two hosts.  There are two disk types, one of which is 600GB 15k SAS which are all bundled into one RAID disk group (we need to maximise available storage at RAID-5).

With vSphere 4 we used to split the RAID disk group into two VDisks, a 1.999TB volume and a 1.3TB volume (given the 2TB -512 byte limit) which were mapped as a single LUN each.  Now this is no longer the case with VMFS-5, and given that all disks are in one RAID disk group, is it worth splitting this into two VDisks or should I just create one 3.3TB VDisk and map as a single LUN?

Keep splitting - more LUNs gives you more queues and the ability to get better response times.

Thanks Matt,

I'm inclined to agree and also feel that laissez faire may be the best option here Smiley Happy
