Jumbo Frame on 1 Gig network

Hi,

I am using iSCSI based shared storage setup on 1 Gig connectivity on Host, software iSCSI,physical switch  and storage.

Should I enable jumbo frame on all the connecting devices in order to have better throughput?

Will it cause any problem like connecting to Datastore or something like that ?

Regards,

Sushil

Hi Sushil,

From connectivity side you wont see any issue. first check that both your Ethernet interface and switch have support for Jumbo Frames.

usually people enable jumbo frames for better performance, you can use iperf/netperf tool to check before and after enable jumbo frame performance and take the decision.

Thanks & regards,

Lakshman
