We have remote sites and there are 2 hosts with local disks. So when 1 host has a failure we Storage vMotion with the web client over to the standby host. I know you can see the vMotion progress in the vCenter tasks pane but is there a metric that shows how much data for each VM is being transferred to the other host and how much is remaining?
The reason I am looking is we have had a few outages and the vMotion percentage is not always what we want We want to know how much GB is left for the Storage vMotion? To keep out managers better informed on how much is left.
So I have seen the transfer rates with ESXtop and things like that inside of vCenter as well but nothing showing how much data is left to transfer from one host to another. If anyone has any suggestions it will be appreciated.
