How to disconnect/reconnect RDM-LUNs to shutdown the NAS

Hi folks,

we are gonna implement a NAS that will host the disks of the VMguest.

I wonder how to handle the disks on the VMhosts before shutting down the NAS.

Of course I'll shut down the VMguest but I wonder if extra steps are needed on the disks.

Do I have to detach them for example? And reconnect them once the NAS is back?

What are the best practices in doing this?

Gracefully shutdown everything, first guests, than ESX, than NAS. After that, go on the exact reverse order. You should have no problem on that.

my bad I didn't specify that I have VM guests local machines on the same ESXi host, that's why I'm seeking for the best practices in handling just RDM devices.
