How do you figure out what vdmk files are being utilized by servers?

I've inherited a 2 cluster esx/esxi based system. The vdmk files are stored on a SAN. The previous sys admin was somewhat sloppy with the datastores and I am trying to compile a list of used vdmk files so I can delete the vdmk's that aren't being used. The problem though is that there are numerous stored vdmk files per server folder. The only way I know of retrieving used vdmk's (in vSphere) is by edit settings>hardware>hard disk which shows the disk file. This however is completely unreadable (greyed out) because of the length of the server folder and the fact that the server is on. How does one go about figuring out what vdmk files are being used by a powered on server without turning it off?
