Host cannot see datastore

I'm running vSphere 6.7 with one host and a VMFS Datastore. I added a second host, but the second host only sees its own physical drive, not the other VMFS Datastore. How do I make that Datastore visible/accessible to the new host?

Hi

You can only share storage between ESXi's if you have shared storage.
For example you could have NFS, iSCSI, SAN storage and then create a VMFS from that storage.
Then you will be able to add the same VMFS datastore to muliple hosts as long as all these host have access to the shared storage.

Local disks to a server will always be local to the ESXi and can not be shared.

Kind regards
Dimitri

Without actual physically shared storage (FC SAN, iSCSI SAN, NFS NAS), or a software-based solution such as vSAN, you won’t have a shared datastore if your hosts just have their local disk as a datastore.
