Help mapping volume on SAN to ESXi host using Fiber Channel WWN

Hello,

I have created a volume on my SAN (LUN)

I am creating the host mapping.

when I go to define my host on my SAN which in this case is ESXi01 it asks for the Fiber Channel Ports definition by WWPN

When i look at my storage adapters in ESX i > storage adapters" i see the following WWN (note one says WWN and one says WWPN)

20:00:00:90:fa:42:69:3d 10:00:00:90:fa:42:69:3d

20:00:00:90:fa:42:69:3e 10:00:00:90:fa:42:69:3e

20:00:00:90:fa:42:69:3a 10:00:00:90:fa:42:69:3a

20:00:00:90:fa:42:69:3b 10:00:00:90:fa:42:69:3b

Should I be adding all 8 of these or just 4. which 4?

Thanks.

Its strongly recommended to create single initiator zones, so you add a single WWPN of the host FC adapter and the Storage Controller WWPN.

What FC switch and SAN array are you using? you will find reference architectures already available for majar SAN vendors.

Google for "Implementing the IBM  Storwize V7000" guide and look at Host Configuration section and if you follow the guide you should be fine.. V7000 can be easily manged using the GUI and the last time I worked on this was in Dec 2012 so the details are archived in my brain cells but let me know if you still have specific questions.

Can you tell me what I'm looking at when I look at a vmhba in ESXi storage adapters.

I have 4 vmhba listed

and each one has 2 x WWPN it looks like to me.

ex.

20:00:00:90:fa:42:69:3b 10:00:00:90:fa:42:69:3b

so would I have 8 total WWPN? 2 for each vmhba?

OK i figured out that the second number is the WWPN and the first one is the WWNN.

my next question is

if I have a single port hba then why do i see 4 vmhba ad 4 WWPN?
