Hardware ISCSI is NOT working but Software ISCSI is working....??

We have a HP MSA2012i ISCSI SAN and our ESX hosts are DL380 g6's with dual port HBA (Qlogic QLE406Xc) Were also running ESX 4.0 and vCenter.

I can see the HBA cards under my Storage Adapters, but when we do a SCAN for new LUNS they dont show up. We verified it wasnt a switch problem by connecting directly to the MSA modules.

I also went into the HBA BIOS and did a "scan for devices" and nothing comes up.

I found the following thread that describes exactly the issue im having except that everything ive tried that they describe does not work for me....

Please check that you have entered the correct IP address, mask, gateway and discovery address of the target in the adapter properties You can take a look at the iSCSI SAN config guide to make sure you aren't missing any steps.

Hi, you could try to take a look at this guide. It's done on the basis of an MSA2012i iSCSI SAN with software initiator. However, it's done on VI3.5 but maybe it can give you some ideas troubleshootingwise:

Okay. Have you tried using the Qlogic iSCLI utility to troubleshoot the issue? Can you upload the vmkernel log corresponding to the rescan? Thanks.
