HBA firmware: Emulex or OEM ?

Hello,

we have HP Proliant servers with FC2142SR HBA's.

These are in fact the HP OEM HBA's of the Emulex LPe1150.

I am having doubts on which kind of firmware I should use, the HP one or the Emulex one?

I was assuming I should go for the OEM one, but the storage team requests the Emulex one since they say it is better supported from our storage vendor (EMC).

When I check on the VMware site, the support is mentioned for the cards and their corresponding drivers, but not for a specific firmware version.

I can't contact our VMware support on this, since it is also HP OEM, and they are therefore not really objective on this one.

It's not about objectivity it's about support. Ask HP which one you should use as they are the ones supporting your systems

that's true, for now...

But this might change in 2010, so I would like to know the VMware point of view on this one.
