Extending thick provisioned drive

I have a Windows 2008 VM that I have extended drive d:\ to 200GB

When I logon to the VM I am unable to extend to 200GB as it still sees only the original 40GB

What should I do?

in Disk Management also choose Action--Rescan Disks.  But, I agree a step by step in how you reached this point would help.

you can do this natively within the OS by using diskpart, or by simply right clicking on the volume in question within diskmanager and choosing extend.

You see unallocated space on the drive in question?

You did extend the disk fisrt within the vSphere Client, and you have no active snapshots?

Can you please explain the steps you took so far?

Maybe some screen shots can help.

Don't you see the extended volume in the VM's (Windows 2008) disk manager?
