There are times when I need to add space to existing partitions within Linux that run under VMs. If I add a second hard drive to the VM, I have no trouble booting into single user mode and using the GUI LVM tool to initialize the new space, assign it to a VolGroup, then allocate it to exising Logical Volumes. However, if I expand the space on an existing hard drive, I can't figure out how to initialize the new storage. A good example is attached. I had a 350 GB VM using one hard drive. I shutdown the VM and increased the hard drive to 390 GB. I booted Linux into single user mode, but as you can see, there is no option to initialize and use the new 40 GB. Any guidance is appreciated.
