EVA 3000 / C7000 / vSphere 4.0

First I like to say, I know i'm not in a supported environnement but we're not quit ready to replace our EVA 3000

We have a EVA 3000 with a VCS at 3.028 ... we have a TRU64 Unix at V5.1 2650 that is already using the EVA with some other simple Windows 2003 Access.

I would like to hook up my C7000 Enclosure to my existing EVA3000 using ESX 4.0

I saw some post saying that in order to be able to do this, i would have to upgrade my VCS to 4.xxx.I wondering if someone as already tried to run vSphere on a EVA3000 and what version of VCS was used? Also how do a manage the Multi-Path config with the EVA3000.

HP says that they never tried it and they have to make study case in order to be able to help us since they never tried it!

Thanks

Hi, I'm using a EVA5000 for many years now with ESX 3.5, ESX 4.0 and ESX 4.1. I would update the FW to V3110. I have also tested with FW 4.100, but than you have bad write performance because of the limit of the mirror-path. You should set the Operating System Type to Custom and give it the value 000000002200282E. It's not supported, but no problems until now with this configuration. I have also set the Path Selection to Round Robin, with no problems. You can also set the IOPS=1 like described in this article: [http://www.ivobeerens.nl/?p=465]
