Hi,
I've got two EMC Clarion AX150 storage servers and I'm looking to add more disks. Instead of using the Dell site which SATA disks cost a fortune I assume I can install any SATA-II internal drive and they will work fine? Or do Dell have any proprietory measures put in place to prevent this?
Thanks!
Will
Morning Will,
I do know that EMC Symmetrix and Clariion CX systems use different custom firmwares on their disks. I don't know if the AX150 uses custom firmware or not. Your best bet may be to look to ebay or other sources for pre-owned AX disks.

No. You need correct disks for the box. Generic disks won't work. They won't be recognized after initial probing.
eBay offers some opportunities. If you're using eBay, I'd definitely consider having a hot spare in the box.
