Common SCSI IDs?

Hi,

Is it essential for all hosts to see shared FC LUNs with the same SCSI ID?

Our LUNs use SCSI IDs 1-16 in each of the clusters. I want to temporarily cross-allocate some LUNs to perform storage vmotion between clusters, but recall reading somewhere that common IDs are a requirement, in which case I will need some new LUNs assigned by the storage guys.

If you do not use RDM disk then it works fine also if you have different ID, because the VMFS UUID is used.

With RDM disk is better to have same ID.

If the LUN ID is used in the disk signature, I would need to allow resignaturing?

I would need to allow resignaturing?

Only if ESX cannot see a existing VMFS volume (but can see the LUN)-
