Cheap storage virtualization?

Hi,

We have all kinds of storage lying around and I would like to use it for development or archive purposes. It is not necesarilly for VM only,

I want to use it for other unstructuredfile purposes too.

Is there a cheap solution that woul allow me to combine different flavours (CIFS,NFS,DAS, ISCSI) under one namespace?

I am familiar with solutions such as Acopia or the Netapp gateways but those are not warranted here.

I am not sure but Gluster Storage platform might be able to do something for me?

Gluster now has a virtual appliance for ESX that can share out the datastore as a GlusterFS, NFS, or CIFS.  It doesn't currently support exporting volumes as iSCSI.
