Cannot delete file on iSCSI SAN, "No such file or directory"

Hi,

I have an iSCSI LUN exported by FalconStor IP Stor version 6.15, which has a Datastore shared by two clustered ESX servers (4.0 and 4.1).

Recently I tried to delete a file and I got the following error:

rm: cannot lstat `oct1-dvm1-RH.vmx_4CB365FA': No such file or directory

The file is not part of any running VM.

Then I checked the vmkernel messages, and every time I triy to access the file the following message is generated:

Oct 13 09:57:50 esx12 vmkernel: 18:21:30:12.071 cpu2:4109)FSS: 666: Failed to get object f530 28 3 4c767774 2d758d4a 1e00a2ab 7de6fdc9 b401ec4 97ed 0 0 0 0 0 :Not found

If I do ls -l on the directory the file properties are missing and the filename comes up highlighted in red:

?----

? ? ? ? ? oct1-dvm1-RH.vmx_4CB365FA

It doesn't matter from which ESX I try to delete the file from, I got the same error message.

I have tried to reset the LUN and also break the LVM lock using vmkfstools -B with no luck.

Any help is appreciated,

Thanks,

Juan Aristizabal.

My question is, does the LUN or datastore for this VM still attached or accessible from both host?

The datastore is still available to both ESX servers and other VMs are running fine on it, but the file I am trying to delete is not even part of a registered VM.

It's like a foreign or broken symlink file. Do you able to see it using datastore browser? Would you able to rename this file first and try remove it using command or client?

Thanks Athlon, but I cannot see the file using the vSphere Client and I cannot move or rename the file using the service console.
