Best practice for iscsi - esx4

I'm trying to determine what a good or best practice would be for this situation. We have a blade server running esx4 so within vmware it's already connected to our backend storage system. What I would like to find out is this:

Can I install the iscsi initiator on the OS (software) side to connect and make a second drive (d:\) that way I can grow the drive, etc. and also still be available for failover, etc...

Or is there a different way or best practice to doing this.

Thanks

Ok I figured it out.

In host view I right clicked on the Data Store and went to properties.

Clicked the increase button.

Chose Extent Device - then verified it on the next screen.

I checked 'Maximize Capacity'

Next | Finish

The storage view now shows the added space.

Went into the VM settings.

Selected the hard disk to extend. Chose new size on the right under 'provisioned size'

After all that just went into disk management in the OS and used diskpart to extend the volume ( I was using win 2003)
