Adding New HD via LUN The space is not correct

Interesting dilemma

ESXi 5.5 with current updates, RHWS 6.5 With  1 – 100GB vmdk, 1 32TB RDM and 3 -  8TB LUNS.  Equals 56TB +/- Plenty of space on the EVA –  56TB +/- , LUNS are Thick provisioned and Thin provisioned on the VM.

Yes I know RDM..BLAH .. but it's all they had before I came on-board.

Attempted to add another HD with a presented 8tb LUN yet only 1020.00MEG can be used.

I thought 5.5 VMFS 5 we were allowed 32 extents up to 64TB ??

Steps done so far.

  1. Deleted and re-presented the LUN in Command View
  2. Deleted and re-added storage in VMware.

Nothing changes on the amount of space I can use. 1020.00MEG

Any other checks I can do?

Thanks

Michael

with VMFS 5.5 you can present a single volume that is up to 64Tb,  using extents is not generally recommended and it is not a good practise.  However, just to clarify, are you presenting the additional as RDM to VM, or are you expanding the VMFS volume using extents and what is the current size of your vmfs volume.
