15 TB storage vmotion

Hi Guys,

i need to run a storage vmotion on my Vspher 6.0 host.

I have HP P2000 Storage and need to migrate one running 15 TB Guest(Fileserver) to my new storage HP MSA 2052. Both are connected via fiber to my host. Host has 10GB lan.

I've never run such a big migratione before and a bit worry if this can be handeled by vmware.

Do anyone has any experience with such big vmdk's? Do i have to check something before?

Yes, it should work - but it will take much time - the VM will be running all the time, but it will have not the best performance.

Maybe you can be sure to temporary disable all snapshot making scripts and backup software.

It this really only one big vmdk? Otherwise migrate the vmdk after each other.

Would not it be better if you are using backup software, isen, backup, restore?
