1/8 G2 Fibre-attached tape drive and VMWare

Hi, I'm trying (and failing) to get VSphere 4 to recognise the HP 1/8 G2 Autoloader. The Autoloader is connected to a Brocade 8/24 SAN switch which is also connected to an MSA2324 array. No problems seeing the disk array via the VM's, just the tape drive.

I've attached a screen-shot of the devices and paths on the fibre card in the Blade Server. Worringly one the devices is reporting as dead.

Can anyone help with this issue please?

Thanks, Derrick

Hi,

If there is a Zoning in the Switch then you need to add the Tape Drive which is Connected to the Host in the Same zone where MSA 2324 is Connected.

Hi, I've configured the zoning but still no joy. I logged a call with HP and they told me that only parallel scsi autoloaders can be used with  VMWare (http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1016407).  A little frustrating as HP told me that the fibre attached autoloader would work in my environment.

Thanks, Derrick
