vsphere 4 perl SDK with ESX 3.5?

I'm starting a project with ESX 3.5, although we may upgrade to vsphere in the near future. Is it safe to use the vsphere perl SDK with ESX 3.5 for the time being, or am I better off using the VIPerl 1.6 sdk until I can upgrade to vsphere 4?

SDK for Perl 4.0 will work against ESX 3.5. There is a compatibility matrix in the Install Guide.
