showing a message on the "welcome Screen" of ESX 4.1

Hello everybody

do you know a way to pop up / show a message on the welcome screen of the ESX 4.1 classic from a perl Script , api call or other cli

running on ESX host ?

we need a feedback from an ESX custom script which runs in the background on the ESX console.

the method which Lamw implemented for ESXi does not work alas for ESX 4.1 classic.

( see , lamw http://www.virtuallyghetto.com/2010/09/how-to-add-splash-of-color-to-esxi-dcui.html)

the esxcfg-advcfg -m option changes the /etc/vmware/welcome, but I think it is not used by the "welcome screen " here.

till now I saw only kernel warning show up on the wellcome screen.

Best Regards

No, this functionality is not exposed in any API/CLI and I don't believe this will ever be exposed ... especially knowing that ESXi will be the future.

Take a look at this post in which you change what files the virtual consoles read in, maybe something you use but again it's probably not supported by VMware -
