vSphere Replication and VMFS corruption

Hi all!

Now I'm looking for replication solution for my vmware setup. The main idea was to replicate datastore. I have 2 similar servers for datastore. One is master , second slave. Firstly I though about DRBD replication, but after while have found vSphere Replocation. What happends with replica if on master we get fs corruption? Will it also replicate fs errors?

How vSphere Replication handels iSCSI reservation? I'm using free LIO Target and there is no VAAI. Will I get performance degradation because of vSphere Replocation? I'm plan to use RPO - 15min. Actually I want near real time...

And as I understand with vSphere Replication I do not need backup solution? It will store differnt "restore points"?

Best regards,

Max.

vSphere replication happens at the VM level. If the primary VMFS is corrupted, then the VMs will be inaccessible and replication will pause. You can have or not have backup solution.. Its up to you.
