Hi,
What is the version of your vCenter Server? Which client you are using desktop or web client?
Thanks,
Dzhem
vCenter 5.1.0 build 947673
vSphere Client v5.1.0 build 941893
Using the vsphere web client the Error I receive is:
"cURL error: Couldn't connect to server" once selecting step 2B (storage) and clicking next.
Could you try download the OVA file locally and launch the deployment wizard and use Browse option and point to the downloaded file.
I have downloaded the OVA file from the VMware website and tried deloying in 2 ways:
Directly connected to vCenter using vCenter Client
From my notebook using web client
In both instances the applicance doesn't deploy with the errors listed above.
Is the VC resolvable from the client machines from which you launch the wizard?
Yes - I can visit both via the DNS hostname (full FQDN and just hostname work) and the IP of the vCenter.
Could you please retry the operation by opening a browser from the machine on which your Windows VC has been installed?
Could you have a look at %TEMP%\VMwareClientSupportPlugin\vmware-cs-plugin logs for more detailed information on the error?
Okay the deployment of the OVA went further all the way through (logged directly into the VC using webclient) - however at the end this error came up:
OVF deployment failed: Line 254: Unsupported section '{http://www.vmware.com/schema/ovf}vServiceDependencySection' (vCenter Extension vService Dependency).
Logs from C:\Users\---\AppData\Local\Temp\2\vmware-cs-plugin
Now, this error can be fixed by making sure that vCenter Management web service is started (check the services on the machine where your Windows VC has been installed).
Okay have tried starting the server however the service fails. Event logs:
The VMware VirtualCenter Management Webservices service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1468 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 60000 milliseconds: Restart the service.
Event ID: 7031, System Windows Log.
Could you try to restart both VC and Management Webservice?
Hi, Have you tried the last suggestion? If yes, can you share what are the results?
I did restart the services; however without resolving the issue.
without seeing the full logs this sounds like something is conflicting with the TC server ports on your vCenter server. Did the services stay up after being restarted? you cannot edit this through the UI now but the process for editing is here:
you might want to review the port setting and check for conflicts. Take a note of the default ports and run this from command prompt:
netstat -anob | find /N "<portnumber>"
if anything shows up for port being checked then note the PID and in task manager add the "PID" columns to the default view, search for PID you found using that command and see what process is using the port. If this is something unexpected then if you can end that process and re-try.
