Update from 8.7 to 8.8 failed

Hello,

today I tried to update both of my vSphere Replication Appliances from 8.7 to 8.8 but both ends with error.

There is no specific error but appliance ends back on version 8.7. I´ve got only this error in web interface:

ERROR
Operation Failed Failed to install update.
Operation ID: 568b479a-5c97-4d89-9d7e-1837c13edb76

Is there any way how to check what happened and where is the issue?

Thanks, Regards,

Petr

Hello,

you can use the latest VR 8.0.0.1 patch version which should fix all upgrade issues.

vSphere Replication 8.8.0.1 Release Notes (https://docs.vmware.com/en/vSphere-Replication/8.8/rn/vsphere-replication-8801-release-notes/index.h...)

Hope this helps,

Daniel G.

See the Release Notes 8.8:

  1. Revert the appliance before the update begins.

  2. Check if the xml-security-c package exist. Run the following command rpm -qa | grep ph2.

The output will be similar to this:

    xml-security-c-1.7.3-4.ph2.x86_64 xerces-c-3.2.1-1.ph2.x86_64 openjre8-1.8.0.232-1.ph2.x86_64 libarchive-3.3.1-5.ph2.x86_64 apache-ant-1.10.1-7.ph2.noarch libdnet-1.11-5.ph2.x86_64
  3. To remove the xml-security-c package, run the following command rpm -e xml-security-c-1.7.3-4.ph2.x86_64.

  4. Continue with the upgrade of the appliance.

Hi Renato,

yes, I created a support ticket to the VMware and this is a result. But after I applied the described workaround and made another upgrade I´ve got this error after the appliance was rebooted during the upgrade.
