Unable to select Target location datastore when configuring a VM for replication

This is an intermittent problem.  The last time it happened, went through the appliance settings and verified it was connecting to vCenters properly, updated the DNS/hostnames, and configured NTP on each replication appliance.  Then I rebooted the vCenters and replication appliances, and it magically started working again.

Now it is no longer letting me select a target datastore to complete the configuration.

Problem:  When I try to configure a VM for replication, I step through the wizard, select the target replication server, and next step is to select the datastore target.  It fails to enumerate the datastores, and will either show an empty list, or will get stuck on the "loading..." graphic forever.

Environment: vCenter 5.5u2 (source and target), ESXi 5.5u2, and vReplication appliance 5.8

I am having the same issue. What else have you tried? Do you have a lot of datastores mapped to a variety of hosts?

When choosing a target datastore, the Web Client on Site A is connecting to the vCenter Inventory Service on Site B. Port 10443 is used:

Port Numbers that must be open for vSphere Replication 5.8.x and 6.x (2087769) | VMware KB

It's probably some issue with the inventory service on the target site. For starters, you could try restart the inventory service, reboot vCenter Server completely, and also verify you have network connectivity from VC to VC over that port.

I too experienced this phenomenon when I went to replicate some additional machines.

I knew path and ports were good as it was working fine hours earlier.

Tried restarting the inventory service of the target site as suggested by p_hall - with no apparent change as still no storage in the list.

Closed my browser.  Re-opened and logged in etc.  Went through the same step and voila! there they are.

Thanks!

Hi John,

Make sure you have updated Adobe Flash Player, then you will be able to see the targeted datastores.

I am facing the same issue.

I just restart the vmware-invsvc (VMware Inventory Service) on v center and after that able to see data-store of target location.
