SRM datastore mapping replacement.

Hi all,

in version 6.0 I have been confirmed that "datastore mapping" is gone.

how do you guys do to replace that?

I have a lot of VMs with several disks on different datastores and each replication has to be setup manually for each disk...very time consuming and risky.

thanks for your hints, advises...

regards

Hi,

Understand that manual configuration here is a pain task. Few questions though:

* Do you use seeds on the target site?

* Did you consider as an option to use some automation tool, such as vRO? You can look here VMware vCenter Orchestrator Plug-In for vSphere Replication 6.0 Release Notes

Hi

I have not been notified of your reply.

I don't unterstand "seeds on the target site" would you explain ?

I will check closer Orchestrateor, but the vReplication licence are already quite expensive, and as It used to be possible to have datastore mapping, I don't get the point of taking this feature out.

Configuring vSphere Replication for multiple VMs is possible as long as they are being replicated to the same location. I'm not sure what you mean by "datastore mapping" being gone though?

As previously mentioned you could look at vRealize Orchestrator and the vSphere Replication plug-in as an alternative option for configuring replication.

What is a "vReplication" license? vSphere Replication is included with vSphere Essentials Plus licensing and higher so there is no cost to it.
