Replication on Domain Controller

Hey Everyone,

I have a 2k8R2 domain controller that I want to set up replication with. I was wondering if with vCenter replication it would be ok to restore a domain controller? I know with snapshotting a domain controller, you have the danger of running into USN rollbacks. Is this also true with replication?

Thanks

Hi,

This is a known issue - https://www.vmware.com/support/srm/srm-releasenotes-5-1-1.html#1016811

It is fixed in VR 5.1.1 when using Recovery Wizard through the Web Client UI, but not fixed in SRM 5.1.1 when using VR and doing failover via Recovery Plan.

Fixed in the upcoming VR releases (both failover via SRM Recovery Plan and vSphere Replication Recovery Wizard).

Fixed in vSphere Replication 5.1.1 (when using Recovery Wizard via the Web Client UI). But not fixed in SRM/VR 5.1.1 (when using Recovery Plan). Fix is planned for SRM/VR 5.1.2.

Fixed in SRM/ABR (array-based replication) 5.1.1.

Fix is planned for SRM (ABR and VR) 5.0.3.

Regards,

Martin
