Q1. Can i use vSphere Replication standalone without SRM ?  How to failover and recover VM without SRM ?

Q2. Can i replicate VM between vSphere environment with different version ? For example, replicate VM's from vSphere 5.5 to vSphere 6.0, or from 6.0 to vSphere 5.5.

Hello,

Q1. Can i use vSphere Replication standalone without SRM ?  How to failover and recover VM without SRM ?

Yes. You can use VR without SRM, failover and recovery will be done manually power on VM in Target site. VM replication is based on RPO configuration. Refer the below link for detailed configuration.

vSphere Replication 6.0 – Part 1 – Deployment and Configuration « | OneVirtual |   ..

vSphere Replication 6.0 – Part 2 – VM Replication & Recovery workflow « | OneVirtual | ..

Operational Limits for vSphere Replication 6.x (2102453) | VMware KB

Q2. Can i replicate VM between vSphere environment with different version ? For example, replicate VM's from vSphere 5.5 to vSphere 6.0, or from 6.0 to vSphere 5.5.

To replicate between vCenters, you required same version of vCenter & VR (like both vcenter & VR will be 5.5.x   or     6.0.x versions)

Hi,

Yes 100% you can use vSphere Replication without SRM. You need to manually fail-over each VM via the vSphere Replication GUI

I do not think it is supported to replicate between different versions of vSphere Replication. You are encouraged to keep the versions the same.

I hope this helps?
