Improving initial replication/sync speeds?

I need to replicate some multi-TB VM's between some new hardware (production & DR) which is right now on the same GbE LAN segment.

I'm finding that using VMware Replication 5.8 (all hosts/infra is 5.5 U2) that on any individual VM I'm seeing it max out at around 11mbps.

This seems consistent with Hosting.com shares data on bandwidth, sync times, and RPOs with vSphere Replication | VMware vSphere... but is also, of course, next to useless for trying to "blast" the initial replication through.

I'm wondering whether the tweaks in the article are the way to go, or if I should look at seeding, or what exactly?

Depending on your storage, at that size I'd be looking at seeding.
