When I try to configure replication of a virtual machine with the guest operating system Windows Server 2016 or Windows Server 2019, I get the following error:
Error
Operation Failed
com.vmware.vim.binding.hms.fault.InvalidSpecFault.summary
At the same time, replication of virtual machines with other guest operating systems is correct. Can you help me solve this problem
Thank you for these logs
hms logs report the following error about unsupported scsi controller:
2020-06-19 09:08:30.695 ERROR hms.TaskRunnable [hms-main-thread-12] (..hms.task.TaskRunnable) [operationID=636c7d02-8185-4762-a932-567ba7ecf7de-HMS-143, task=HTID-aca78f80-45e0-41b3-99d9-af2973cf86f1] | runTask-failed name: "Configure replication"; class: com.vmware.hms.job.impl.ConfigureReplicationPrimaryImpl; err: Unsupported controller type (com.vmware.vim.binding.vim.vm.device.VirtualNVMEController) of device 32000 for VM vm-3036; time: 47 ms
If the hard disk is attached to a virtual NVME controller, vSphere replication does not support it. This information is listed in VR 8.3 release notes(Under limitations)

Hi
Please check if the guest operating system is correctly set for this VM --> Change the Configured Guest Operating System
Share the version of ESXi host and vSphere replication
Guest OS is correctly set.
Version Vcenter is Version: 7.0.0 Build: 16189207
ESXi Version: VMware ESXi, 7.0.0, 15843807
Vsphere Replication Version: 8.3.0.7861, 16284276
Error seems like some configuration issue with the VM.
Do you notice this issue with all the 2016 and 2019 VMs?
Is the VM listed under replications in error state after it fails or never reaches that phase? Please attach error screenshot to understand at what stage it fails.
Ensure these VMs have up to date hardware version and VMtools.
Check the edit settings of the VM to ensure there no unsupported devices- like ISO, physical RDMs, etc.
Try configuring replication for just one of the disks while leaving the others disabled.
If the issue persists, attaching vmkernel and hostd logs from source host(/var/log/) and /var/log/vmware/hbrsrv.log, /opt/vmware/hms/logs/hms.log from recovery site replication appliance would be helpful in understanding the error further.
It's a new vsphere (esxi, vcenter, replication), and it is new test virtual machines, they not have any unsupported devices and they have only 1 disk.
An error occurs when the configuration of the replication job is confirmed. The task for replication configuration of this virtual machine is not even created
