I am experiencing the same problem, but I am using VMRC 5.1 connecting to ESXi 4.1

I managed to get mine working.

One of the things I found was you have have to click the "+" button next to "VMRC Modes" and add "MKS".

Also you have to acquire a clone ticket via the session manager directly from the host that your vm is currently connected to.

Still it is not working, giving same message.but in vmware-vmrc logs showing some certificate issue....
