Identification of VM from SNMP trap details

Hello all,

When VM is powered on/off, VC can be configured to send SNMP trap to the configured SNMP receivers. The SNMP trap sent from VC will have information about vpxdTrapType, vpxdHostName, vpxdVMName, vpxdNewStatus, vpxdOldStatus, vpxdObjValue (VMWARE-TRAPS-MIB.mib has details about these values). Looking at these trap info. I get the feeling that only vpxdHostName and vpxdVMName can be used to recognise VM which is powered on/off. With this info. I need few clarifications:

(1) Are vpxdHostName and vpxdVMName sufficient to uniquely represent VM ?

(2) How to get VM from vpxdHostName and vpxdVMName info ?

I am asking these clarifications as I feel same host name and VM names can be present at different inventory hierarchies.
