How to remove dead data path lun on ESX 3.5

Hello.

On my one of the ESX server 3.5 I am getting path status as "DEAD" for one of the netapp LUN. That LUN no longer exisits on the filer.

When I do rescan on ESX server then I am getting following message.

Rescanning vmhba1...VmkfsLib_ScanAdapter: Failed to do a volume cache rescan Status: 0xbad008c

Failed scanning adapter 'vmfs-only' : SCSI LUN is in snapshot state

Error: Opaque service console status

I went through all other posts but other than rebooting ESX server I didnt get any solution.Can someone help me on this?

Its kinda critical as whole ESX server needs to get rebooted.
