Hi
I need to change NIC configuration through guest os customization but I have a problem using RHEL 7.0 guest os customization in vCenter Version 6.0 and ESXi 6.0
Can anyone advise on support of RHEL 7 guest OS Customization?
According to Guest OS Customization Support Matrix (http://partnerweb.vmware.com/programs/guestOS/guest-os-customization-matrix.pdf), the vCenter Version 6.0 (ESXi 6.0) supports for RHEL 7.0 guest os customization but it keeps showing error message as shown below
Error Message: Customization of the guest operating system 'rhel7_64Guest' is not supported in this configuration. Microsoft Vista (TM) and Linux guests with Logical Volume Manager are supported only for recent ESX host and VMware Tools versions. Refer to vCenter documentation for supported configurations.
Regards
Are the VMware Tools installed and running? If yes, which version? And do you use the Open VM Tools from the RHEL repository or the VMware-provided Tools?
For the Open VM Tools and Linux OS customization you need to have the open-vm-tools-deploypkg package installed, which is not part of the base Open VM Tools:
Installing the deployPkg plug-in in a Linux virtual machine

Hi MKguy
Thank you for your quick reply
I have not installed the VMware Tools and open-vm-tools-deploypkg in RHEL 7 VM so I will install them first then I will test the RHEL 7 guest OS Customization
