vMA 5.0 - PCNS auto startup?

Hello guys,

We have a ESXi 5.0 host with a vMA 5.0 VM running.

We have successfully installed PCNS 3.0 on the VM. We can access the PCNS management page just fine.

If we restart the vMA, the web page is no longer responding, and we have to restart PCNS using the "sudo /etc/rc.d/init.d/PowerChute start" command. It starts to work fine then.

Is that normal behavior? is there a way to have it automatically start each time the vMA VM is started?

I am a beginner and I have been searching the web for hours on this one. Thanks for the help!

Mat

stuk0v,

I can say this is not normal behavior as my setup starts up just fine after every reboot.

One thing I noticed is you mentioned you installed 3.0 on an esxi 5 host.  Did you apply the patch for 3.0 and esxi 5 before installing?  This would be the only thing I could think of.  There is now pcns 3.0.1 that contains the update in it.

this article says there is a known issue if you are esxi 5 update 1.

lawson23,

We have updated PCNS to version 3.0.1 and it seems to have fixed the problem.

Thanks!
