The RCLI appliance can do many of the things that can be done with VIMA. You can run RCLI scripts in either; you can also install RCLI into your own Linux or Windows VM or physical machine.
Both the RCLI appliance and VIMA can be used to run RCLI & VI Perl Toolkit scripts.
Some of the features included in VIMA include but not in the RCLI Appliance include:
- component for caching authentication
- component for collecting ESX log files
- VIMA is designed to host agents that will be released by some 3rd party developers
- VIMA is supported for production use
- VIMA includes a mechanism for VMware to provide updates, if needed

VIMA can only be run on an ESX server that supports 64-bit virtual machines. (For more information see the VIMA release notes or documentation.)
A 32-bit appliance for Remote CLI 3.5U2 is available (although it's not recommedned for production use).

Can I do the same things with the appliance with the RCLI and VIMA?
I don´t work yet with the RCLI but I have in my list of future things to do.
Thanks.
