Unable to install vmware tools in vMA

After deploying vMA 4.1, I notice that vmware tools is not included. When I attempt to install it, it said that vmware tools is already installed and I have to remove it first before I can install the latest version. However, when I attempt to uninstall the existing version, it said that it was not installed. Anyone manage to overcome this ironic situation???

Also, when you have configured update manager, it will provide the option to update the vMA also possibly with tools and bug fixes.
