I am trying to get my license key for the free version of vSphere 8
I am aware of the message on top of the page:
Known issue alert: License generation for VMware vSphere Hypervisor 8 (free edition) - When registering to download the vSphere Hypervisor 8 package you may get the following error for its license information: "Unable to process your request. Please try again later". VMware is aware of this issue and is working to get it resolved as soon as possible. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Firstly, I don't know how long has this been a problem and what happens when my trial expires. I have moved several of my projects onto the new machine, hoping this will be resolved in couple of days. It has been weeks now and I have no idea when to expect any help.
It seems very difficult to get any info on this. I have used 6.7 and 7 and never needed any support, but this time I'm just baffled what the issue might be, I would think that vSphere licensing is not something that just breaks... I mean, it's been around a while...

well... if you find a way to contact support, let me know... I ran out of hope and waiting was the only thing left.
In the mean time, I bought Unraid and will not use ESXi anyway as I can't deal with their shenanigans and seeing that there is NO support for free users, I rather find an alternative solution.
I just logged into my account and my license was there.
I hope it is fixed, or like said earlier, they are manually entering them in and are getting to us one by one.
I just logged into my account again and now my license is there as well. No idea why the delay but nice to see it is working now. How about some communication VMWare?
Ok, I also wanted to see if there is a license key available.
But now, both the link for downloading the software AND the license key are NOT AVAILABLE!
VMware solved the problem by deleting the link for downloading ESXi v8...

Today, I nearly couldn't belive it, I've got my license for ESXi v8.0.0!

My key did finally appear.
Now, with the new portal, I've lost access to all my purchased license keys as well.
After 14 days my ESXi8 free key mysteriously appeared without any notification from vmware.

I am happy anyway.
There seems to be an issue on VMware's end causing this. Regardless of the browser, device, or network I connect to, the issue of the "Register" option on the ESXi 8 page taking you to a blank Customer Connect page remains.

Now it's 17. January 2023 and it looks like these problem still or again exist. I waited one day but I'm still not able to download an evaluation product for v7 or v8 😞

as it seems, with the take over by Broadcom, nearly nothing works with the VMware products, licensing and maintenance contracts.
After logging in, I see no licenses, no downloads etc.
At the moment it's a very bad situation ;(((
