storage cache for local disks for ESXi

I know this is a rather broad question, but I'm not sure how I should otherwise approach it.

Is having raid cache important for the storage on which you run *only* ESXi and nothing else?

Is there any documentation related to this many? Someone told me that ESXi is mostly used for reading and that caching is not really important. So in this context I was wondering if there is any real risks when the raid controller battery fails, if data might somehow get corrupted there.

We are currently using a HA vSphere Cluster with 7 nodes.

You mean for ESXi itself? As in the device on which ESXi is stored? Nope, it doesn't matter really if you have raid cache or not. We have plenty of customers just booting from a regular disk without any RAID even.

Yes, exactly, just for ESXi itself.

Thank you, this is what I wanted to know 🙂
