I'm getting the same issue, stuck at 0% on stage 2. Tried installing on a sandbox host running exi 6.5. And I tried installing on a live system thru an existing vCenterServer too. Same result. Think I might try an older version of vCenter Server.

Do you have a DNS server with A record and PTR record for the vCSA?

IF no, please prepare a DNS and name resolution records on it.

Or please deploy vCSA without FQDN.

This is the guide for name resolution for vCSA.

DNS Requirements for the vCenter Server Appliance

https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/7.0/com.vmware.vcenter.install.doc/GUID-24D34C53-B00E-47B7...

And same situation was fixed before by same solution. (This thread is too long, so please read last two posts.)

I had an A record, but no pointer.

I tried version 7 again in my sandbox. Left the FQDN field blank in stage 1, put in the IP on stage 2 for hostname. Now I'm getting stuck at 22% Stage 2, Starting VMWare Security Token Service. Attempting a suggestion from another forum post. (seems to be working, the local host part in this discussion: https://communities.vmware.com/t5/vSphere-Upgrade-Install/When-I-first-installed-vsphere-I-was-stuck...)

I tried version 7 again in my live environment, left the FQDN field blank in stage 1, couldn't change it on stage 2. Installed just fine!

I was able to install VCSA after creating an A and PTR record for the appliance. Thanks for your suggestion.

bingo! I chose the fqdn hostname option and didn't have an A record/PTR in DNS.

Thank you!
