I have Suse Enterprise 11 SP3 running on vShere 5, installed is Zimbra. VM was initially setup use E1000 adapter. I am getting about 30% discards report via SNMP, and simple ifconfig shows;
RX packets:2406 errors:0 dropped:1087 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:1052 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
I have Suse Enterprise 11 SP3, running Zimbra, but on Virtualbox at home, no similar issue. On this specific vShpere server there are 9 VMs total running, none with same or similar packet loss. I browsed thru logs, nothing stood out. I then removed the E1000 adapter and replaced with the VM3, same problem. Did packet capture, but results were as expected, significant packet loss, but it seemed to be for every network service or connection type.
At this point, kind of at a loss on where to look next, so hoping get some ideas. Almost thinking to setup new Suse server, install Zimbra, and just let it run for a week and see. Other than Zimbra, there just is no other applications installed (besides what is necessary for server to function and be monitored).
