I would like to monitor all my ESXi hosts and export weekly reports, raise alarms on certain conditions etc.
I am looking for free or cheap solutions. Tried Veeam Monitor free, but its a bit limited. Are there any other good free alternatives?
With 4.1 including remote support mode, are there any scripts which allow monitoring?
Basically I would like to look at things like HDD usage on data stores, CPU, RAM, Network traffic, and maybe even hardware health of the host machine.
Just looking for all the different options. Will pay for a solution if it is justified.
William Lam has you covered. He wrote an excellent script that you can run from an admin account with administrator rights on your vCenter server or it can be run from the free vMA (vshpere management assistant) vapp. I have been using this script for a while now and you can tweak it for as little or as much as you want know about your environment. Its free so it requires a little effort on the administrator's part, but it's definitely worth it.

Hello.
Depending on the level of automation you want, the RVTools can provide detailed data. You will have to run the tool manually and then export the data though.
Good Luck!

That one was a bit basic but I found his other script - http://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-9842
It works great!
Thanks.
The various Powershell scripts that float are great - but it really is worth taking the time out to understand hgow these work / learn the syntax. the time invested will be returned tenfold by time saved in future.
How many hosts do you have? vCenter Essentials is $500, can handle up to 3 hosts and you gain benefits like cloning and update manager.
