LSI 1068e background rebuild deactivates LUN

Hello,

I'm using the Intel SASUC8I (LSI 1068) controller with ESXi4.1 for simple RAID1 storage.

Everything is fine, even if I remove one disk, but as soon as I insert any repleacement disk, when the controller starts auto rebuild, the storage isn'a vailable any more (greyed out (inactive) in the vSpher Client) and the Array is marked "failed" in the storage adapter llisting.

I waited until rebuild finished, but the storge never comes back. If there was a VM runnung using that storage, the complete system locks up.

Has anyone seen similar problems with other controllers? Thsi is mptsas, so it should be widely used.

Thanks,

Perhaps check to see if you are running the latest firmware for your RAID controller?
