Is ESXi free?

I downloaded ESXi, they give me a license key and the site says it's free. But when installed it says is evaluation version in the View Support Information menu option within the console. I could not find an option menu where to enter the license key I have, only found a few options in the console to modify, like root password, Network, logs etc.

One more thing, when connecting to ESXi from vSphere Client, the client says I have evaluation version, 60 days remaining to buy a license.

Is ESXi free or not?

yes, it's free. When you registered for the download, you would have received a confirmation email, with a link to pick up your key. The key will set the product to "never" expire.

To install the key, go to the Configuration Tab--licensed features
