Error: Failed to lock the file

I have received 9 vhd files and 1 vmx file.

I have copied them to a folder at vSphere volume. Added them to inventory.

When trying to start this VM for the first time, I got the following errors:

Cannot open the disk '/vmfs/***a.vhd' or one of the snapshot disks it depends on.

Failed to lock the file

Cannot open the disk '/vmfs/***b.vhd' or one of the snapshot disks it depends on.

Is any problem with VHD format?

I have read similar errors, but i do not have any *lck files...

EDIT:

I realized, only now, that VHD format is not supported by vmware.

I am going to convert them to VMDK with vCenter Converter WinImage
