Yousif,  I persume your question is about win 2012 R2 & ESXi compatibility.

This issue occurs due to a truncated download, Please refer the Kb here :  http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=103271...

But on the other hand, can you change the HDD type from IDE to SCSI if its so ..?

Also I could find one useful thread from eigthforum, wherein "kluster" has given some workaorund which worked for him; Solved Win8 RP ask for drivers at install

The error message says:

A media driver your computer needs is missing.  This could be a DVD, USB or Hard Disk driver.  If you have a CD, DVD, or USB flash drive with the driver on it, please insert it now.

If you are using LSI Logic SAS for your virtual CD/DVD drive, this message always means that your Windows installation disc is corrupt or truncated.  Please check that you have downloaded the entire Windows .iso file, and verify its size and MD5/SHA1 hash against that published on the .iso download page.

Cheers,

Hi,

Wrong, this message does not always means that your Windows installation disc is corrupt or truncated

For me when I got this message one time when trying to install 2012R2 guest on a 5.0 esxi host and it appear that I had to download this file and give it as a floppy image as asked in the message :

http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=100520...

Then it worked like a charm and with the same windows 2012 iso file.

I know this is an old post. I just wanted to update it with my solution for anyone else who might run into the same issue. In my case; the ISO didn't download complete, and I had to re-download it.

"Load Driver

A media driver your computer needs is missing. This could be a DVD, USB, or Hard disk driver. If you have a CD, DVD, or USB flash drive with the driver on it, please insert it now.

Note: If the installation media for Windows in the DVD drive or on a USB drive, you can safely remove it for this step."

The Floppy Drivers Image obviously didn't work for me. Smiley Wink
